Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. For example, the Hostinger banner is an affiliate link. I only recommend products and services I use or would recommend to clients, and affiliate relationships don’t change my opinions. Posts that contain affiliate links say so.

What personal data we collect and why

Contact form

When you send a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address and message so we can reply. We don’t sell this information or add you to a mailing list without your permission.

Comments

When visitors leave comments we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you use it. The Gravatar privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public next to your comment.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are popular. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device and pages visited. Learn more at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email and website in cookies so you don’t have to fill them in again. These last for one year. Analytics and affiliate partners may also set cookies when you visit the site or click their links.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles may include embedded content (such as videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website, which may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with it.

How long we keep your data

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be approved automatically. Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to respond and for our records.

Your rights

You can ask to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it (except data we must keep for legal, administrative or security reasons). Email hello@shahzadsadiq.com.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. The site is hosted by Hostinger.
